What is counseling and why should I go

What is counseling and why should I go

Talking with a friend or family member can be effective at times but sometimes, we need more help than they can provide. When those times occur, that is when it may be time to seek out professional help. Counselors are trained to listen to the full problem and help you make positive changes to your life that will benefit you.

We all have experienced the relief of sharing with another person a feeling that we’ve had or an experience that just didn’t go right. Talking about our thoughts and feelings makes us feel better and it can be soothing. Just to know that there is another person who cares about you and fully listens to you feels good.

There are no guidelines or criteria you have to follow or have in order to be a “good” candidate for therapy. Many people seek out therapy for concerns such as relationship problems, self-doubt, divorce, depression, anxiety, trauma, or grief.
